Leslie Ysuhuaylas, who works with the Underdog Project in Dallas, Texas to help feed stray dogs, knows all too well just how barbaric some pet owners can be.
So when she spotted Benny, a two-year-old Sharpei mix, left to freeze to death in 20-degree temperatures, she knew she had to act fast.
The area in which Benny was left is well known to animal rescuers in the area, as various callous individuals often abandon their pets in this remote part of the city.
So Leslie stopped and approached a shivering and terrified Benny, and found a deep gash on the poor pooch’s left side.
Things were looking bad but then the kindly rescuer spotted something even worse just a few feet away…
That’s when she discovered another abandoned dog, who was also freezing and injured. The looks the scared dogs gave Leslie must’ve been enough to bring her to tears.
She contacted Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for help and that’s when things started to turn for the better:
As a spokesperson said on the group’s Facebook page:
The good news is that there are amazing people out there like Leslie, who continue to fight for these abandoned animals.
And if this story doesn’t make you consider adopting, nothing will. 😉
