Theresa Potratz adopted an adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Murphy.
She’d always had pets and had been successful at training them, but Murphy was quite the handful.
See, he was a chewer. Not just like any other puppy who will chew a shoe once or twice…he chewed everything!
Not only that, he would try to bite anybody who got in his way when he was chewing on something he claimed as his own.
“From the moment I brought Murphy home he struggled with food and toy aggression. He chewed and bit everyone and everything around him.”
Murphy’s goat-like antics finally got him in big trouble; he swallowed something he shouldn’t have been chewing on (surprise!) and it got lodged in his intestinal tract.
But do you think that showed him down? NOPE!
He kept doing it, which meant more trips to the vet.
Poor Theresa was at her wits end, and didn’t know how much more she could take from this pooch.
She went to bed with it weighing heavily on her mind. What could she do…?
The next morning, she went to work and got a huge surprise – she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
But it’s when she read the card that tears began to fall.
Her husband had sent them on behalf of Murphy.
He knew that she was upset and not sure what to do about Murphy, and it was his way of letting her know it would all be okay! Adorable!
Thank goodness Murphy grew up and out of his terrible chewing habit.
But because of eating things he shouldn’t have when he was younger and having to have it removed, he still has to be hand-fed.
Theresa wouldn’t change a thing about Murphy now.
He’s a great companion, and besides, how many people can say their dog sent them flowers? 😉
