Sometimes, animals don’t realize humans are there to help.
The poor creature is in such a frightening or perilous situation that it’s totally panicked, and only knows fear.
That’s what rescuers came upon when they found a poor stray stuck in a metal fence.
Neighbors had called rescuers because though they’d seen the stuck pooch, they were afraid to go anywhere near her. Why?
Well, because she was so panic-stricken that everyone was worried she’d bite anyone who tried to get too close.
And she was indeed terrified, so much so that rescuers were concerned she’d really hurt herself if she kept writhing around.
They first had to convince the trapped critter that they were friends, that they were in fact there to help her.
So, the kind individuals from Animal Aid took that necessary first step:
Before trying to free the pup, they simply petted her and talked to her, to calm her down and convince her they weren’t enemies.
It didn’t take long before the pooch calmed down and let the men attempt to free her hindquarters from the metal gate.
They had to be awfully careful squeezing her through, though…and you could tell she was still terrified!
But finally, with a little yelp, she slipped free and that was that. Mission accomplished!
And the pup’s reaction to being saved was absolutely priceless, too. Panic-stricken one minute and thankful and happy the next.
The rescuers were able to bring her to a nearby vet, where she was treated for a case of mange.
Otherwise, she appeared to be in good health; all she needs now is a loving forever home.
Here’s hoping her wish comes true sooner rather than later!
